Yes, students can post their multimedia project to you tube, they must have a copyright notice and also a citation on their video. However if you tube was an unsecured website they would not be allowed to do so. Yes there is a limit to the amount of pictures and or videos and music used in a multimedia project. According to the article "Copyright in an Electronic Environment", illustrations are no more than 5 images of an artists or photographers work. If you are using a collection there will be no more than 10% or 15 images, which ever is less/ Also according to this article the following is in play with music; up yo 10% of copyrighted musical composition, but no more than 30 seconds, up to 10% of a body of sound recording, but no more than 30 seconds, and no alterations of any sort. Students and educators do not need to ask for permission to use copyrighted materials as long as it falls under the fair use guidelines.
